Learning Theory Statement
The Australian Curriculum is underpinned through a (social) constructive evidence-based learning theory. It is made up of five attributes, active, constructive, authentic, cooperative and intentional. These attributes help articulate or scaffold information, as knowledge constantly builds upon its self.
The Australian Curriculum encourages the use of a variety of ICT tools such as popplet, google documents, do ink and interactive maps, allowing students to manipulate and display information based on weather and climate types in various forms. It is constructive in the way it allows students to use their knowledge, learnt or researched and displays it through the activity, such as the do ink weather report.
It is authentic as students develop a deeper understanding through researching about relevant world situations effecting them and their community, in this case weather and climate types.
It also allows for cooperation, the varieties of technologies used are interactive and can involve more than one role i.e. google doc even allows multiple people to access a document and edit the group work.
Finally, it is intentional as the technology used helps scaffold information students have gathered and allows them to organise and present the information they have gathered, to their peers, in a clean and succinct manner.
